National Commitment to DEI
We are Alpha Chi Omega.
We are real women: diverse in our experiences, our identities and our stories. Our sisters must reflect the diversity of our communities, and we must welcome them to an inclusive experience. We are a sisterhood committed to creating spaces where all members are respected, are included and feel a sense of belonging.
We are strong women: eager to embrace the interconnected and diverse world in which we live. Our unique experiences provide an opportunity to learn from the personal narratives of others; we listen with humility and openness as we commit to appreciating all that is noble in another.
We are real, strong women committed to fostering belonging, cultivating inclusive environments and empowering all of our members to seek the heights.
Epsilon Phi, A Letter from our VP DEI
So what does DEI look like at at AXO? It looks like our bi-monthly DEI meetings, where members share topics that are important to them—or we learn about something new together and discuss. It looks like the daily conversations we have with one another, where we value our different identities as strengths and grow through each other’s perspectives. It looks like our members engaging with the world around them, striving to broaden their minds and uplift others. It looks like a home where every aspect of your identity is seen, valued, and celebrated.
My favorite line from our creed—our Symphony, as we like to call it—is “to see and appreciate all that is noble in another.” This, to me, is the perfect summation of what DEI means: choosing to look deeper, to lead with empathy, and to celebrate the unique light within each person.
I’ve learned so much about the world through the eyes of my friends at Alpha Chi Omega. Their different experiences and perspectives have challenged me to think differently, love more deeply, and lead with greater compassion. They’ve made me a better person for it, and I’m endlessly grateful to be part of a sisterhood where we grow together.
